ARTIST
STATEMENT: I’ve always had my creative hand in some medium. Whether
it’s carving an avocado pit as a jewelry piece, collecting driftwood
as adornments for wind chimes or my deepest love: Glass! Once glass
got a hold of me it wouldn’t let go! Thus the tag: The Glass Junkie.
I love it!
I am continually searching within my own creativeness for new ways to use glass, for unique one-of-a-kind art. I recently developed the Fused Mosaic. With this technique I create a mosaic look, fused transparent glass with a smooth finish. I have also used my fused mosaic method for beautiful one of a kind candle holders that are a must see. I have brought together fused mosaics with traditional stained glass methods. Incorporating the two forms makes for wonderful art pieces for a lifetime of enjoyment. My collection of work also includes pieces that are fused and slumped for candle holders or sculpture. When I open my kiln it’s always exciting to see how different each and everyone turn out! I try to find a use for every bit of the glass. I’ve even taken the rolled edges of the sheets of glass and form them into crosses, proving there is a use for everything!I love this art form and enjoy sharing my knowledge and experiences through teaching, demonstrations and attending art shows. |

BIO:
Diane Sepanski, also known as the Glass Junkie because of her addiction
to glass, loves sharing her work and ideas. Whether it’s through selling
a finished piece or the transfer of knowledge, she’s here to get the
word out!
After many years of experimenting with dichroic glass, it all came together when the artist was introduced to PMC. “I had so many beautiful cabochons, but didn’t know what to do with them”. Now she knows exactly what to do and is selling her work and is teaching her skills and knowledge to glass enthusiasts alike. What is PMC? PMC (Precious Metal Clay) is the versatile clay-like material that you can work, roll, cut, shape and fire like clay but comes out of the kiln as (.999) pure silver! Anything you can do with clay, you can do with PMC! Because it can be worked with by the hands and simple household tools, it can be used to create jewelry with ease…eliminating difficult metalworking processes. |
